Tips for using Browse: Browsing is a valuable way to learn about birds, however it is a brute force approach and not designed for identification. A more sophisticated approach to finding a bird with specific field marks is to use the Step by Step Search. You can also try the Wizard to find a bird, which uses a question and answer approach, but again it does not give you the flexibility of the Step by Step Search.

Every garden attracts a different set of birds depending on the plants, trees and shrubs present, whether extra food is provided, what water sources there are, and what the surrounding habitats are like. The Pied Crow Corvus albus is a widely distributed African bird species in the crow genus. Structurally, the Pied Crow is better thought of as a small crow-sized Raven, especially as it can hybridise with the Somali Crow Dwarf Raven where their ranges meet in the Horn of Africa. Its behaviour, though, is more typical of the Eurasian Carrion Crowsand it may be a modern link along with the Somali Crow between the Eurasian crows and the Common Raven. As its name suggests, its glossy black head and neck are interrupted by a large area of white feathering from the shoulders down to the lower breast.
