Stocks are higher on signs of an improving domestic economy

The Integra FX Report – April 28, 2010 (The Integra FX Report: Daily Foreign Exchange Commentary)
Volatility returned to the N.Y. session on Tuesday morning when S&P downgraded both Greece and Portugal. The Euro, already under overnight pressure from a sixth consecutive day of widening CD spreads in Greece, closed the day down 225 pips against the Dollar and over 300 against the Yen. U.S. equity markets took the news pretty harshly as well, closing down nearly 2.5% after making a new 18 month high on Monday. Greek/German bond spreads widened to record highs for the fifth consecutive trading day, putting overnight pressure on the Euro. Stocks are off their lows on upbeat earnings and consumer confidence report
