Volatility returned to the N.Y. session on Tuesday morning when S&P downgraded both Greece and Portugal. The Euro, already under overnight pressure from a sixth consecutive day of widening CD spreads in Greece, closed the day down 225 pips against the Dollar and over 300 against the Yen.
