Volatility returned to the N.Y. session on Tuesday morning when S&P downgraded both Greece and Portugal. The Euro, already under overnight pressure from a sixth consecutive day of widening CD spreads in Greece, closed the day down 225 pips against the Dollar and over 300 against the Yen. U.S. equity markets took the news pretty harshly as well, closing down nearly 2.5% after making a new 18 month high on Monday.
