Steep Yield Curve: Really Bullish? (McClellan Market Report)

Wall Street seems all abuzz lately about the yield curve. Not a day goes by that we don't hear staff or guests on CNBC talking about it, as if they have just (re)discovered its existence. Examining the historical record, it is clear that an inverted yield curve is and has always been a bad sign, despite Bernanke's 2007 assertion that it was different that time. The surprising finding is that a really steep yield curve is not always a good sign for the market.
